The CSW66

As announced in our earlier mail, the Commission on the Status of Women of the United Nations (CSW) will convene between March 14 and 25 2022 for its 66th session. It is a great opportunity to catch up about women’s rights world-wide, and to be inspired by great speakers and by lots of eye-openers. Due to COVID, there is no possibility for us to attend in person, but we can follow it online. Only some of our SI representatives get access to the UN building in New York.

Here is the invitation letter by UN Women. In order to receive updates on the CSW66, you must sign up individually to the CSW66 mailing list by clicking HERE.

You do not need to register for the CSW66 (contrary to last year).

The NGO CSW:

If you haven’t already done so, we encourage you to register for the NGO CSW Forum, which publishes information relevant to NGOs, and coordinates the parallel events. Their FAQs are excellent to understand CSW and NGO CSW. The NGO CSW Consultation Day on March 13 familiarizes NGO members with what CSW is about.

A parallel event of SI with contributions from all five Federations has already been approved for March 22 at 1.00 pm CET: “Opening Doors to a Bright Future: Educating, Empowering and Enabling Women”.

Webinars by the SI team:

SI organizes three trainings. The first webinar that focused on the purpose and logistics of the CSW took place on January 29, 2022. On the SI website, a recording is available, please see below. The next two trainings are scheduled for February 19 and March 5. Please, check the SI website for any upcoming information.

  • WEBINAR 1 – Logistics for CSW/Advocacy/Working with member states/News in general from CSW66 –  Saturday, 29 January 2022 at 8.00 pm. To listen to the recording, please click HERE.
  • WEBINAR 2 will focus on CSW Priority Theme: Climate Change, Environmental and Disaster Risk Reduction – Saturday, 19 February 2022 at 8.00 pm. Please register HERE.
  • WEBINAR 3 will focus on CSW Review Theme: Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Changing World of Work – Saturday 5 March 2022 at 8.00 pm. Registration is not open yet. It will be available HERE.
