Anders Mogensen
One Laptop Per Child – Can a laptop at $100 possibly save the world?
Anders Mogensen will tell about a fascinating project involving a robust laptop at only $100 meant for school children in developing countries. By means of such computers, children in third world countries proceed directly to the Internet – from writing with a stick in the sand. The Laptop turns upside down of the concept of learning, for what happens when a child in Africa is able to enter the web on her own and get access to more information than the teacher – who sees himself as the wiser? And what happens when poor people in an African country is given the opportunity to communicate their own culture worldwide? See for yourself Anders Mogensen’s film recordings from Nigeria where a small boy from a remote bush demonstrates his use of the laptop, plays games and makes film records of his grand mother. Anders Mogensen is co-founder of the company Seismonaut that has been participating in the initiative One Laptop Per Child in Nigeria.
